Limitations and alternatives
As we have just embarked on our accessibility mission starting with Cencora.com, there may be some limitations. The following is a description of known limitations, and potential solutions. Please contact us through our Accessibility Feedback Form if you observe an issue not listed.
Known limitations for Cencora.com:
- Global navigation compatibility with screen readers: the main navigation flyout menu is currently not accessible for screen readers. We are currently assessing a remediation approach that will not compromise the accessibility of rest of the website.
- Not all heading orders are in chronological order: not all heading element tags are in a sequential-descending order for screen readers. We are currently modifying elements of our design system to ensure that semantic markup connected to visual styling do not compromise the reading order for people who rely on assistive technology.
- Some elements do not have discernable, accessible names: some elements may not have discernable text that clearly describes the destination, purpose, function, or action for screen reader users. We have logged these issues and queued for manual testing to ensure that elements are labeled with a discernable purpose and an accessible name.
- Videos do not have audio descriptions: while video content featured on the website have close captions and transcripts, they currently do not include audio descriptions.
- Newsroom and archived content: newsroom content dated earlier than 08/31/2023 may not meet accessibility standards. Please contact us through our Accessibility Feedback Form for support.
- Image descriptions: not all images, such as complex imagery, logos and profile headshots, will include image descriptions. We are currently working on providing detailed descriptions of complex imagery with our design and content authoring teams.
- Hidden elements: some pages may have hidden elements detectable to screen readers that do not provide information. We are currently working with our development teams to resolve such occurrences.
- Linked documents: not all linked documents, such as PDFs, have been remediated to be accessible for people who rely on assistive technology. We are currently working with our content authoring teams to train them on authoring accessible documents and remediation. We can provide accessible documents upon request. Please contact us through our Accessibility Feedback Form for support.
Assessment approach
Cencora assessed the accessibility of Cencora.com by internal evaluations.
To stay true to our commitment, we’ve recognized the need to include the lived perspectives of people with disabilities who rely on assistive technology. We are currently exploring ways to amplify these perspectives in our planning, research, design, development and testing practices.
